Commonly found flies in India include House Fly, Drain Fly, Fruit Fly, Flesh Fly and Blue Bottle Fly.
Flies trasmit a variety of diseases including Salmonella, Dysentery, Cholera and Tuberculosis.
Flies are most active in summer.
Even though many off the shelf fly repellants are available in the market, it is recommended to use a professional pest control service provider to get a long term solution for your fly problem. Rentokil's Integrated Fly Management solutions address fly infestation at every stage of fly life cycle. Inesct Light Traps (ILTs) from Rentokil is an effective way of controling flies, especially for high dependency sectors.
Flies can be excluded from your premise by installling air curtains, screens or Strip Curtain Devices (SCD). Taking proper care of hygiene also does a great deal in preventing attracting flies to your premise. Garbage cans and dumpsters should have tight-fitting lids and should be cleaned regularly. Also, food materials on which the flies can lay their eggs must be removed periodically.
ILTs use a source of UV light to attract flies towards them. A glue board in the ILT traps the incoming flies as they get stuck to the board and perish. By examining the trapped flies on the board, the level of fly infestation and presence of various fly species can be evaluated.
